Patty Wright cannot remember a time when she didn't want to make
real the costumes she saw in films, theatre and books. She began sewing
when she was 10 and immediately began winning multiple local costume
contests every year and, later, hall costume contests at conventions.
An experienced and accurate period costumer, her work has been used
by museums including Mystic Seaport Museum, Storrowtown Village,
Westfield on Weekends, Colonial Harvest Days, and Fort Ticonderoga.
She has done costume design for theater, television, and haunted events:
including "Back to the Wild Wild West", "Buck Rogers Begins", "Nautical
Nightmares", "Lantern Light Tours", "Haunted Fort Ticonderoga", "The
American Experience", and The Westfield Women's Club.
The Costume Designer and primary costumer for "Star Trek: New Voyages/Phase II" for 7 years,
she studied under the tutilage of James Cawley - an associate of William Ware Theiss - and she
has copies of the original CBS patterns for "Star Trek". Her exacting recreations have also
been used in "Project Potempkin", "Star Trek: Secret Voyage", "Star Trek: Origins", "Star Trek:
Anthology", and "Star Trek: Axanar", among others.
Her newest designs can be seen at 6 Flags New England's "3-D Slasher Circus". She is currently
the Costume Shop Manager for Westfield State University and works turning the Theatre Arts'
costume designer's visions into realities for the program's productions.
